1. Fire pit BBQs are great for everyday relaxing
We don’t save our outdoor fires for special occasions, they’re perfect for everyday too. What could beat finishing work and sparking up your fire pit BBQ? You can cook some easy tasty food then relax through the evening basking in its warmth watching the flames and properly unwinding from the day’s stresses with your favourite drink.
They’re great for popup get-togethers too, and if you have a fire pit BBQ that is portable or packs away you’re not tied to any one place. How about taking the kids to the park with some friends one afternoon for some barbecued treats, or even keeping one in your car and heading out straight after work?
2. A fire pit BBQ quickly converts into the perfect outdoor heater so you can cook-and-chill
Having a fire pit BBQ rather than separate fire pit and barbecue will save you money, time, fuel and space. Not only that you won’t have to light a fire pit AND a barbecue each time you want to get outside. Once you’ve finished cooking you can easily turn your fire pit BBQ into a fantastic wood fire pit to keep you warm long into the night simply by removing the grill and putting logs on top of the charcoal. They will quickly catch light and transform your evening from cook to chill with flickering flames.
Plus if you get a bit peckish as the night wears on you can always toast some marshmallows or (and we love this one!) make outdoor toast – if you’ve never tasted toast made on a wood-fired fire pit put it on your bucket list for this year – it’s incredible!
3. …and everyone wants to cook when you have a fire pit BBQ!
Because of their shape a lot of fire pit BBQs are brilliant to get everyone pitching in and enjoying cooking together. This is great as not only does it make cooking food outdoors for lots of people easier and more fun, it means that your party is better for everyone as no one person has to worry about the barbecue while everyone else sinks the drinks.
We love getting our guests to bring their own favourite barbecue food then everyone gets to try lots of different tastes. We’ve got so many post-lockdown barbecue nights lined up this year with our friends and family!
4. Fire pit BBQs make fantastic focal points
If you’re feeling like you want to change up your outdoor space this year (and let’s face it, who doesn’t!) but not sure what will add that magic touch there’s nothing better than getting a fire pit BBQ to star as the focal point of your garden, patio or decking. If you’re thinking of making a new garden room or other alfresco space for outdoor entertaining or giving an outside area a face lift, then fire pit BBQs are the perfect solution to making that space extra special. They’re such a great way to extend your home by adding gorgeous warmth and soft light to your outdoor life and making a cosy, inviting and super-useful space.
5. Fire pit BBQs make staycations extra special
More and more of us are thinking differently about holidays and we’re making staycations the new black. Getting a fire pit BBQ guarantees you tonnes of fun on home holidays, stays in self-contained accommodation or with friends and family.
And what could be better than a fire pit BBQ you can easily take with you? Imagine heading back from a day’s explorations knowing that you’ve got an amazing evening ahead under starry skies cooking up a storm and swapping tales of the day’s adventures, or even popping one in the car boot for a day trip to the beach!
6. Fire pit BBQs are brilliant for safe outdoor socials
Fire pit BBQs keep us toasty warm even on chilly spring or autumn (or even summer!) nights so we can make the most of every dry evening to cook food outdoors together and share those smiles across a flickering fire. But did you know that they’re also great at reducing coughs and sneezes? Read on!
Not only do they enable us to be outdoors longer so they help us socialise more safely than when indoors, they also heat the air so they minimise the risk even further by making it difficult for nasty bugs like coughs, colds, flu and Covid to spread. Lastly, with more than one fire pit BBQ small groups can gather round them, cook their own food, and still all be part of the big party.
Our TetraFlame SizzleChef Pack Away Fire Pit BBQs are ideal for this as they’re so versatile. Put several together side by side to make a family-sized fire pit BBQ, or move them apart at a bigger gathering using one per two or three people. We can even personalise them so you know which one belongs to who, and having several of them won’t take up lots of storage space either as they cleverly stack inside themselves!
7. …and people love being together outdoors round them!
There’s no doubt about it, fire pit BBQs are great crowd-pleasers. They’re brilliant for getting the gathering going and will literally be your prime social hot spot (other than the kitchen of course!). They’re an endless source of fun things to do with your family, and the kids will love learning about food, cooking and all things fire safety. They give you endless excuses to invite friends over – and friends plenty of reasons to turn up, and are brilliant for breaking (or is that melting!) the social ice by being great talking points.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my favourite reasons to have a fire pit BBQ and what some of the advantages of getting a one are. I also hope this article has helped you decide whether to get a fire pit or fire pit BBQ of your own for your garden, deck, patio or outdoor adventures this year.
We’ve come through tough times recently and we all need that little extra something to make our days and nights special. My personal fire pits and fire pit BBQs (I think I have 5 currently and we’re planning another one this spring!) have a very special place in my life and I can do so much more with my outdoor social time and make it even more brilliant (and tasty!) because of them. Few people can resist cosying up round them to cook, play fire making, and chat away into the small hours, and I for one can’t imagine life without that.
