Two Layer 3D Gold and Black Metal Script Sign for Tactic Signs
Tactic Signs asked us to make a large, two colour metal script sign for one of their clients. The sign was to be based on the concept drawings they supplied.
Important considerations included creating a durable yet lightweight weatherproof sign that would be easily readable for visitors, with prominent characters and sturdy back plate. Our customer’s client also requested specific custom colour and surface finishes to the characters and back plate, and to have the sign installed on a brick wall with hidden studs so that no mountings or fixings were visible from the front.
They were also keen to find a sign maker who could transform their concept drawings into a high quality sign fit for their discerning client, so our “Idea-to-Item” custom metalwork service and excellent manufacturing standards were the perfect match for them.
We based our design on the concept drawings and guidelines supplied by Tactic Signs’. We converted the concept drawings from pdf to files suitable for using in our CNC plasma metal cutting machine.
We chose to make this two colour sign from 5mm mild steel for the script support plate, 10mm aluminium for the script, and stainless steel stud fixings to the rear. The script was bonded to the support plate with ultra high strength structural adhesive.
We protected the steel back plate with baked-on non-zinc primer, and added a special order pearl gold polyester powder top coat. For the script itself we used a special order satin matt black powder coat.
These materials gave us the opportunity to create a beautiful, two colour 3D metal sign with great depth of character that was both striking and durable, and also to accommodate the required aesthetics for design and construction.
