Statement Two Colour Metal House Sign For Luxury Holiday Home
Our customer asked us to make a large metal house sign for their heritage property which they had lovingly restored and turned into a luxury self-catering holiday home. Formerly a school, and with stunning architecture and surroundings, they were keen to reflect all this in their sign.
Important considerations included creating a stylised image of the property in metal by working from two guide photos, including both the name of the village and the property, working with the customers’ design layout, colour and surface texture choices, making a sign that was easily visible to visitors yet strong and light for its size, and the effects of weather on the sign’s durability.
They were also keen to find a sign maker who could transform their description into a luxury sign fit for such a property, so our “Idea-to-Item” custom metalwork service and high manufacturing standards were the perfect match for them.
We based our design on the customer’s photo of the property and their guidelines for the design as well as inspirations drawn from our own imagination of how the sign should look alongside the property. We created initial design sketches for the customers to base discussions on, along with several artist’s impressions, and developed the project following their feedback on these.
We chose to make this house sign from 3mm cold reduced mild steel, with a mild steel frame and bracings, and stainless steel stud fixings. We protected it with baked-on zinc rich primer and coloured gloss polyester powder coats. These materials gave us the opportunity to create a beautiful, durable sign that could be easily disassembled for maintenance painting, and also to be creative with the design and colours.
